NCSU is offering training and assistance to small food processors this year (as the tiered compliance dates for this group is targeted for September 2018). More information can be found on our FSMA website.

2018 Preventive Controls for Human Food Courses

  • Kannapolis, NC: January 31-February 2
  • Edenton, NC: April 11-13
  • Winston-Salem, NC: June 20-22
  • Wilmington, NC: August 22-24
  • Mills River, NC: October 3-5

The course cost is $250 (early bird rate at $200), which includes a follow-up visit with each participant to walk through their facility and personally help with their food safety plan. In addition to open-enrollment courses, are available to provide on-site training, as well.

What: Hands-On Blueberry Pruning Workshop

When: February 20, 2018, 1 - 4 pm

Where: The Center for Environmental Farming Systems' Small Farm Unit at Cherry Research Farm, Goldsboro NC

Join us for a short classroom presentation on pruning blueberry bushes led by Research Specialist Bill Cline. From there we’ll travel a short distance to the Small Farm Unit for a pruning demonstration! Please bring hand pruners and dress appropriately for outdoor demonstration.

Since 1995 Bill has served as the Blueberry Extension Horticulturist for NC State, supporting Cooperative Extension agents statewide. Cline also maintains the N.C. Blueberry Journal, a blog where he posts information about the latest disease concerns, cultivars, propagation and guidelines for timely blueberry maintenance, such as pruning and fertilizing.
