Events & Workshops

As a part of our youth education programming we will be hosting a reception for the students who participated in our photo program which focused on using photography to teach students about agriculture. We had about 50 students participate.  The event will highlight some of the photos taken during the 12 month program.  A guitar will be awarded to the student who took the best photo to encourage the students interest in arts and agriculture. Our reception will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at the Florence County Library in Florence, SC from 6-8pm.

Dedicated

Written by Xavier  (June. 2014)

I stand big and heavy over the grass

When I walk I walk with great mass.

They pick on me because of my weight

Their jokes are filled with hate.

The only thing fat about me is my heart

But they shoot jokes out like a throwing dart.

Only a strong person like me can deal with it.

Not continue to eat the meals I did.

I’m gonna lose weight to show them that I am the man I really am.

The man who said he can lose weight and can.

Foods that aren’t good for you

They sell, you buy

You consume but don’t take note on

What the food does to you.

The people that do know

Still eat it, and I admit

It is addicting but it is just food

It is not as serious as you think it is.

Weight

Written by Lanita  (June. 2014)

If you were an Eagle I would fly you away.

If you were the ocean I would wish you back to bay.

But you’re not, you’re not living.

You’re not dead.

You’re just weight.

Instead...

Weight, how dare you curse me to look like a large black plate of something.

Weight, how dare you take, take, take

But you’re nothing but weight.

Take space, take time, take a dime

Weight nothing but weight.

Healthy Foods

Written by Niyah (June. 2014)

Have you ever thought

Eating healthy can

And will be a

Life saver

To you

How about you

Yearn to eat healthy

Foods

On top

Of that

Decide to

START NOW!

I don't why you would feed it to us probably tasted ridiculous 3 hamburgers, no fries.

I’m sure it was full of pink slime, you killed him.

At the same time you filled him, 12 days probably

Didn’t pray to survive, oh my

Even though I didn’t know you

It still caught my eye,

Hours and hours just passed by,

Still in your system, still in your eyes

The food killed you and you never found out why.
